My Holiday

This morning we wrote 5 basic sentences about our holidays. We looked at a range of different connectives that will improve my writing. A connective is a word that joins 2 simple sentences together e.g. such as, nevertheless, in spite of, but etc. Next we spent time improving our 5 basic sentences by using connectives. Does your school use connective?

On Thursday  the second week of the Holidays Mum, Sophie, Rebecca and I went to the movies and watched Spider man Homecoming while we had melted ice-creams, after that we had Domino's Pizza for tea. It was raining while the little white Dog ran away however I had to chase after Him. On Saturday the 22nd Me and Auntie took Sox, her Dog, to the amazing Dog Wash at animates, Also we went a couple of days ago when there was a learning thing. In the cool Holiday we went to Burger King a lot, Also we bought a Vacuum for Nana Cathy because the other one She has is too heavy for Her.  On Sunday the 23rd I was in a awesome dog show with Auntie Paula’s dog Belle, (it was hard) however I still did it also she had bought two other Dogs to show, Cliff and Eva, They were all Fox Terriers.

The storm.

This weeks prompt for the 100WC was ....but then the weather changed dramatically... here is my story about it. I was trying to use interesting vocabulary and trying to use a semi colon.

It’s a sunny day. Sophie and Carly, her dog were going to school. Sophie was at the gate of the school but then the weather changed dramatically. In 5mins snow was coming down and fast. In an hour it changed to lightning and thunder. Sophie and Carly were stuck outside in a lightning storm covered in snow. Now they could hardly breath. “Help!” She screamed for the last time. The morning rain had made the snow slushy;  was easy to get out. Sophie and Carly escaped from the snow. Sophie limped with her sore leg to the school; Then suddenly...

Speech Board

Every year we do Speech board. For speech board we do a presentation, recite a poem and part of a book.

This year I did my presentation on the Hummingbird. My book was Magic Kitten (Picture Perfect) by Sue Bentley and my poem was ‘That Was The Easter Holidays’. The person that was assessing the Room 4s was a nice lady called Annette. The person assessing the rest of the school was Miss Spittle, (our principal).

When we got our results I found out I got Highly Commended.
The things that you can get while doing speech board are fail, pass, commended, Highly commenced and Distinction. I don’t think anyone got Fail or Pass. I hope not anyway.

We do Speech board because it helps us learn about the thing we're doing it about. For example I learned that there is more than 325 species of hummingbird just by searching up cool facts about the hummingbird. Also it taught us how to speak in front of a big crowd.

For speech board we had to practise for like 6-7 weeks. We had to practise in front of the class lots and lots of times. In the room with the assessor two other people my age were in there as well. When I was doing my poem I partly forgot my poem but I was fine. My thoughts were it was scary doing it in front of someone I didn’t know and I was nervous.

I think speech board went well but was hard work. I’m not looking forward to next year’s Speech board because I had to work hard and I find that difficult.

The Gigantic Cream Egg

This weeks prompt was about a cream egg. Do you think my Story's good? I was trying to think carefully about using better words. Here is the picture of it.

The gigantic egg fell crash on the concrete. The tiny people ran as fast as they could to safety. The road workers got called and came immediately.  The creamy filling was flooding out really fast! Cones started to come out of the big, black truck. Three of the red and white cones when around the big blob of creamy mixture. It started coming out faster and faster. They put a wall around it and connected it to 8 horse and the horses pulled the wall. The started to pull it away then… Suddenly the egg slid out of the wall.
